Road Trip to a village in the jungle

This is one of the local meat markets in the village.. Everything is cut to order. See the taxi parked in front.. We chose not to buy here... We have Great meat markets in the larger Super Stores in Cancun.. Costco, Wal Mart, Soriana's and two or three more... Great selection and quality...
This is a common item... BBQ Chicken out in the open air market area. A full chicken dinner for two, includes a full chicken, rice, beans, salad and a drink for 70 pesos (Just under $6.00).. They are cooked on mesquite type charcoal...
Here is main street with the bike taxis parked at the curb.. Bike taxis are everywhere. This is a main mode for the ladies to bring home their purchases.
This is a look down the main drag... Bikes, pedestrians, trucks, cars .... Notice there are no lines dividing the road... They decide on their own how many lanes they are going to use... two, three or four and you can turn left or right from any of them... Honk your horn, step on the gas and go .... Most of the time everyone else will move....
Very pretty little church that caught our eye. It was clean and nicely maintained. The doors were open and it was very inviting.
Second little church that was also cute. They were setting up for a large outdoor party. Christmas is a 12 day event in Mexico... They do love to party!

Local LDS branch. It is small but very well maintained and represents the church well.

This was a public outdoor (covered) recreational area. They had basketball hoops, volleyball and other games that could be played under the canopy to shade the playing area. These little communities are really family oriented.

We stopped here for a snack and to use the facilities. The place was a big open area out back... Covered with a large palm leave roof (Palaypa)... cement floor, plastic tables and chairs and one large jute box.. blasting out Mexican Music ... The patrons were all men sitting around drinking beer and chatting... There is a lot of that going on all over Mexico...

We had brought the dogs, but due to Sport's broken toe... We didn't do much walking around.. We mainly just drove around and looked from the car.. Sport's toe has Becky waiting on him hand and foot... I really think he is milking it now... When she is not around, he get along just fine with little distress... When she enters the room, he goes into total dependency.... Hey, I pick up his poop... That is all... Helping him pee and carrying him up and down stairs and getting up on the sofa and bed ... Either he will have to do it or wait for Becky.... What a life... These two dogs have.... They got it made...
